Peskyfoxs
Expanding ammo has to be stored as if it's live round according to west yorks, it also has to be entered on my certificate but it wouldn't surprise me if this differs under different forces
Amazed
I keep getting different answers so I just keep them in the ammo safe to save hassle.
Kes
Since you are required to show an FAC when you buy expanding bullets, I store both bullets and full reloaded rounds under lock and key. Would advise everyone to treat expanding bullets as complete rounds.

That is correct approach. its expanding heads and treated as full ammo. in all means treat them like proper ammo but it is lump of lead and copper but plod thinks it is a bomb. Graham M
Expanding bullets were classed as "Missiles" by West Midlands, but since they have merged with Staffordshire ......................who knows. Best to keep them locked up and remove any reason for being jumped on from a great height. G.M.
JonathanL
is it a requirement to keep expanding bullet heads in your gun cabinet.as used in reloading as i keep mine in ammo safe but was wondering if i need to as powder is not required .hopefully someone will know Techically, yes. The Act is worded in such a way that expanding bullets are legally the same as assembled ammunition. Your FAC contains a condition that the firearms and ammunition to which it relates must be kept safely. Hence, you should keep them under the same secuirty as actual ammo. J. hawkeye
All my expanding rounds are kept in the gun safe along with the none expanding rounds (question ) do none expanding have to be kept under lock and key as well ?
shotgun sam
Expanding bullets have to be kept in ammo safe what I do is make the round up as soon as I get the bullets makes it easier to account for what I have. Fmj bullets do not count as ammo until they are combined with primer, powder and brass but the bullets on there own can be left out of the ammo store
