j-c
Hi all, In the process of applying for my first Shotgun Certificate, which will (hopefully) swiftly be followed by my first shotgun. Quite new to the sport of shotgun shooting, with only a handful of trips to the clay ground under my belt, enjoyed it immensely and quickly purchased a gun cabinet which I now have every intention of filling. Looking on guntrader and in a local RFD just to get an idea of what's out there and am a little torn between a Baikal O/U 12bore, and the various names I'm unfamilar with but which happen to fall within my price range (up to £400), namely; Laurona, Maraccini, Lanber and BRNO, and wondered if anyone had experience with these brands of guns and would be willing to offer a newbie some advice! Though I'll mainly be shooting clays, I'll definitely be doing some wildfowling at some point as I have access to land where I'm permitted to shoot (just rabbits using my air rifle so far) and will want something suitable for both. Have done quite a lot of reading re. chokes, chamber, barrel length etc but would like some advice from those with experience! Thanks

pigeon-hunter
Out of the ones you listed you can't go wrong with a lanber, my friends have had them for yrs and love them, and I have a lanber semi which is great to, there are a lot of guns out there to look at. Just don't rush into it take your time to find what fits right to you. I have a 28 inch barrel for rough, just that little shorter for hide. And a 30 inch sporting for clays. HDAV
Shoot lots buy few, have some lessons and learn to shoot before buying..... its totally different to rifle shooting. FOr wildfowl you may want to consider a HP steel proof gun though this may stretch your budget.....
j-c
Ok, thanks for advice HDav, welshwarrior and pigeonhunter. Definitely will be getting some more experience before buying. Just window shopping at the moment.
