Davyo
2002 grand vitara GV 1.6 petrol.I was wondering if the pipes I have located are extended diff breathers. The front diff looks like it comes to the top of the rad.The rear is located in the rear where the jack is housed at brake light level and what appears to be the gearbox breather is at the top of the fire wall. Can anyone confirm are these the diff breathers?Have been looking at fitting a snorkle as although the air intake pipe is high in the wing it is front facing so a wake of water could easily entre. Then this brought the diff breathers into question.I had read somewhere that the early GV's had the high diff breathers which I am hope are the 3 pipes I have located. gav05
Yes well one is the air in for the diff vac pump and the other is as said transfer box breather iv got a snorkel on my 03 and iv taken them all the way up to the top of the bulkhead near the air box and its good in water up to top of headlights level that's deep enough for me then the door seals leak and inside gets wet. Davyo
Thanks mate, Not planning to go deep myself but as i was a little worried the last time i went through a flooded road a numpty comming the other way tried to drive through quick and caused a wake that went up my bonnet ( he conked out in the middle lol) But when i checked the air intake it is foward facing just above the drivers front wheel so decided to go for a snorkle but then decided to sort the diff breathers 1st. gav05
I have did iv got extended hoses to top and snorkel also 3" body lift so that helps and running on kumoh venture mt 205.75 so chunky tires with 30mm wheel spacers not been stuck yet and now with my diff working correctly again I'm sorted for winter. Just wish the little 1.6 had a bit more grunt. As for the tubes if you can see a open end or a vent take it as high up the bulk head as you can I did mine with adapters for air con hoses and black hose of ebay oh and lots of zip ties.
