bear with me people coz i'm going to be asking what might seem to you guys some real stupid questions, but the extent of my air rifles skills is shooting at a paper target at the bottom of the garden,

but i am planning to go vermin shooting, but dont subscribe to the idea of shooting an animal only to have it running around in agony before it dies, if ever, because of a wrong shot,

I have pin pointed my target shooting to a decent hit rate, but would like some advice on the best kill points/spots for taking out rats rabbits and birds instantly, or at least with that intention. :good:

head shots on all if you are competant enough will be the most effcient way to secure a kill........shots to the bioler room (Heart and Lungs) can be as effective but you are more likely to ricochet off ribs and bones which will result in injuries...........and that as we all no is a no-no

cheers for that paul, but i reckon i'll have practice a bit more to be able to hit a pigeon on the head :good:

i go for head shots on everything, with the exception of pigeon in certain conditions such as breezy conditions.

when there is a bit of a breeze blowing i either shoot, as mentioned above, between the shoulders, but usually under the "arm pit". This will hit the heart/lung area and kill the bird flat out

With only 12ft lbs of power head shots are the only way to secure a clean kill. I have sometimes used throat and neck shots on rooks/crows and magpies with great success. Remember RIGHT BEHIND THE EYE.

Hope this helps.
