A couple more wildfowling firsts

Went out again to the Eden for morning flight today and saw a longtailed duck again was beaten by a pack of teal which came past like grouse and I only saw them when they were 15 yds away. However the firsts were seeing a pintail, never seen one here before although there are a few and this is only the second I have seen.

I heard some greylags take off and go over a spot that is usually inhabited by a fowler or two, but not today, I also had that feeling that there was something behind me and turned to look and 35yds away to my left and slightly behind was a sea eagle holding against the wind and looking at me and the dog lying on the mussel beds. Now I have to say I don`t spook easy, but this big old eagle was looking for breakfast and I sat up and turned the gun towards it and thankfully it started off downstream to annoy the shelduck, wigeon and teal. Unfortunately, apart from the shelduck, they did not pass my way.

Quite a few firsts in just a couple of days on the estuary...and a blank, which isn`t a first
