Daft question but do you get much trade between 9-12? wouldnt being open 12-7 be better than 9-4:30? Possible issue for deliveries but it seems mad to be open when customers can't shop.....

General observation about retail not Norgas in particular....

Its a valid point, and you've sort of answered your own question.

Norgas Cartridge Co is run alongside and in conjunction with my cylinder gases business which runs along an 8am to 4;30 pm format.

Until recently the gun shop lacked a card terminal, this required gun shop customers to use the terminal in the gas showroom, when the gas side closed it was a bit of a pain to open up to accept the payment so I delayed the late night opening, and closed on Saturdays at 1 pm.

MY first business venture in the early 80s was as a model eningeering supplier. I operated a late night opening then, it was quite successful, so I'm reasonably confident that the Thursday late night opening will be a winner. I've already got someone coming to collect 10,000 cartridges on Thursday after he finishes work. So that's a good start. OK it's business that I would have done anyway, but its more convenient for the customer. In reality, I've been opening up after hours to allow customers to collect since I started the cartridge business; hopefully formalising the Thursday evening will concentrate these collections and draw in more business.

I find it hard to believe that many gun shops still close for lunch and have either half or a full day closed during the week. They obviously make enough out of the hours that they are open and must place less emphasis on customer service than I do.
