Dunkield
Not answering your question directly I know, but . . . I have had to swap few scopes round recently on my rifles, and have got the alignment pretty close just by mounting the gun firmly on something, bipod up front support at the back, and then looking at something through the barrel at a reasonable range - 50 yards will do. All you do then is adjust the crosshairs onto the object - (remembering that the adjustment will be back to front of course ) and then fire a few shots just to do the fine zeroing
Graham M
Fitted a nice new set of Optilocks onto my Tikka (Christmas pressie) and was able to get out this afternoon to sight the rifle back in (not been well). Before setting out I placed the rifle in my workmate and boresighted it onto an object 100yds away, whilst at the same time moving the crosshairs to suit. When I set up my target at @ 100yds I found that I was only 4 inches left and 3 inches high and it only took a further ½ dozen shots to get it sighted in 1 inch high. If you do decide to pay a substantial amount of cash for one of these devices, then I think that you will find that in most instances you will only get the first shot as close as I did with boresighting by eye, which means you won’t save anything on ammo’, but will be out of pocket for an item that really isn’t needed.
