That was a good price 10 - 5:30 = £180 labour,cylinder £186 + mark up,your man just made £219 in 6 1/2 hours,less fittings/gas/fernox etc.

Where are you getting a 1050x450 cylinder for less than £180 inc VAT?

 

...and to be fair, it was a days work, for which a couple of hundred quid is not unreasonable.

Job done. He showed me the hole in the old tank. Used all new parts as far as I can see. Started at 10 am and left at 5.30 pm. Any idea what I would get in scrap for the old boiler and a few copper pipes?

For the tank you should get £60 scrap, but this depends on how old it is. The older the tank the thicker the walls and therefore heavier.
