firebrand
I've got some pigeons feeding on greens and on their flight line they are using 2 trees as 'sitty trees' before dropping into the greens. These trees are about 200 yards away from where the greens are and I'm going to set up close to these trees and take the birds coming in to these trees,so my question is: Do I set up a decoy pattern etc close to these trees to draw birds in or is that not necessary? Will it aid my shooting or will it put them off do you think? Whats the best advice please? Thanks
TIGHTCHOKE
Put some decoys up in the tree with lofting poles!
Hamster
If as you say they are using these sitty trees then ground decoys won't be needed but well placed lofted decoys could help, I usually just put a few on nearby fences. turbo33
Personally, I wouldn't bother putting decoys out. They are already using the tree and so don't need any encouragement. There's more of a chance that if you change something, ie popping plastic decoys around, they might be spooked Gun, carts and flask
firebrand
Thanks for your views-I felt a decoy pattern might just put them off but I'll try the one or two lofted to just give them the confidence to keep coming in to these trees. Fingers crossed this driving rain and howling gale eases off.
