Roe in velvet

I was out early this morning after rabbits with my air rifle and I spotted this 3 pointer buck with 5 does. The wind was in my face and low sun behind so it was pretty easy to get to about 70 yards without spooking them, I took a couple of photos through the scope with my phone and then got another 20-25 yards closer before they fled. They all seemed to be in good condition.

I also saw a flock of around 80 pigeons in the next rape field so, as I always carry 3 FUD decoys in my game bag, I thought I'd see if they'd decoy. I had 5 or 6 fly pasts which is encouraging, but nothing landed. A couple more weeks and there should be some good oppotunities with the shotgun.

He looks a prime fella and no candidate for a bullet this yea, look at the rear end on him a belter and not surprising when you look at the state of that foliage in the south up here we just have a few buds, dead grass and twigs at this time of year, the only thing that's truly green is the Holy and the spuce
