Conygree Posted January 26, 2007 Report Share Posted January 26, 2007 I mentioned this outbreak in the summer but didn't have the latin name, samples from Oxford were sent to a lab for testing and confirmed back in August. Since the outbreak numbers have really dropped, no large flocks any more. I think the drought limited drinking points during the summer, but now I haven't seen any fresh cases of affected birds. No wonder the Buzzards and foxes look in such good condition. It's endemic in the pigeon population so I don't guess it'll have that bad an effect on the overall numbers. Suffolk shooter Posted February 1, 2007 Report Share Posted February 1, 2007 Anybody read the article in shooting Times today (Page 6), states that it is a natural bacteria that lives within the gut of all pigeons/gamebirds and it is only when it is present in large numbers that it MAY contribute to causing disease. It doesn't state that it is the cause of them dying?!?
