Davyo
Wanted to control the movement on my modified FUDS so the didnt wobble like made in strong winds, but then also be able to move in very light wind.By placing a black ring on the main spring which can be moved up to make the spring more rigid for strong wind and moved down in light wind to add more movement. Also can rotate 190. tomblincoe
looks like a nice FUD mod. Can you post a guide to how you did it and the parts needed? Looks very neat and more professional than other mods i've seen. (and much better than the original!) Tom
Davyo
Hi mate all you need is aluminium 6mm rod from b&q, they are in 1mtr lenths, x 3 cost £8, does 12 decoys. The wire is 1.25mm flexi mild steel, you get 55m for £3.30,delivery is £2.95. 1 pack of small tie wraps. You need a drill wire snips a vice(or something to hold the wire while you twist it) 1,I cut the alloy into 9 1/2 lenghts and closed 1 end by nipping in tbe vice. 2,I cut the wire 24in and doubled up 3,Put the looped end(about an inch) in the vice, attach the loose ends in the drill chuck and clamp up.Rotate the drill slowly so the wires twist uniformed.Once the wire is twisted you need to make the loop in the end into a sort of w,this will lock onto the centre stud on thr FUD. 4, once this is fitted it will fold away up into the FUD.Take the wire cutters and cut the wire so it doesn't stick out of the tail when the FUD is closed 5 the tie wrap needs to be put halfway down the wire, this stops the wire from fully dropping into the hollow tube plus depending on where you place it will either give it more or less spring.(it will move up or down even if you put it on tight because the twist in the wire acts like a thread). I have also made a load that are attached to pea sticks of various lengths for higher crops but these dont rotate. But the still have movement. The beauty of the W shape in the wire means it fits firmly between the 2x foam washers on the FUD stud.So its not perminatly fixed so you can swap sticks in the field. I would not part the stud on the FUD to remove the red spike, I cut the spike off with a hacksaw as you need to retain the 2x foam washers on the stud. IF YOU LOOK AT THE PICS IN THE 1ST THREAD YOU WONT GO WRONG WITH THE W THING. The postage on the wire insnt cheap but I have made 48 diff types of sticks with this and still have loads left.I have attched them to green garden pea sticks, some 12inc znd some 24in for standing crops.
