  2. ASE Utra SL5 is a great moderator. Compact, stainless steel construction and very effective at taming muzzle flip and noise. I also happen to have one for sale if you are interested! £200 and its yours... Tom
  3. Used Freelander 2 Sump Guard. This will fit Freelander 2s up until 2012. In reasonable used condition with a few scratches. It is not bent or misshapen in any way. Does not come with fitting bolts, but these can either be purchased from Mantec or are easily found online. (M10 x 50mm) £100 collected (from Fordingbridge) Photos can be emailed if required
  4. For Sale is an ASE Utra SL5 Moderator owned by me since new. Used for stalking and zeroing only, less than 200 shots through it. 30cal and 14x1 thread. I am looking for £200 Face to face preferred but I will RFD at buyers cost. FAC Holders only (with an open slot for centrefire moderator) Can send pics via email
  5. restoring it will be problematic. You could get the whole shotgun hydrodipped in realtree or any other pattern you like.
  6. I don't think the phrase "Any other lawful quarry" is open to much interpretation??? The only debate is over the word "quarry" it is doubtful this would include dispatch of livestock for example but there is no doubt that deer are a quarry species. Tom
  7. If your certificate says "Deer" OR its says "Any other Lawful Quarry" AND you have a suitable calibre rifle (.220 calibre with ME >100 ft/lbs and bullet weight >50 gr) then you can legally shoot Muntjac. Only shoot heavily pregnant does as they breed all year round and could have dependant young otherwise. Tom
  8. I prefer a different approach. Find a shoot to beat on, that way you get to know the farmer/landowner and then at the end of the season ask if they need a hand next year with pigeon/pest control. Make friends with the other beaters and guns and doors will open up for you. As a bonus you get some lunch +/- money and a brace of pheasants. I hate cold calling people, especially overworked and underpaid farmers! Tom
  9. I have a 28" Maxus and love it. I use it for pigeon decoying, wildfowling and rough shooting and its great. It is much longer than a 28" O/U but still very manageable in the hide and the speedloader function is excellent. The only loads I have had fail to cycle are 24g 65mm loads at a clay ground but to be fair the manual says a minimum of 2 3/4 inch and it cycles 65mm 30g pigeon loads without any issues.
  10. Be careful having 2x moderators in the same calibre unless you have 2 slots on your FAC!

  12. Bagged a hen mallard on my first flight of my first 'fowling season so I came home with a spring in my step! Tom
  13. The BDS are based in Fordingbridge but run their courses in Wimborne. I went with Jelen based on their reputation and the offer of a free stalk as I booked super early... Tom
  14. Whereabouts in Hampshire? Try google maps, or ask at the estate as they should know where their farms are! If its local to me (Fordingbridge) I may be able to help.
  15. Hants have really bucked their ideas up the last couple of years, my SCG took about 6 weeks all told including finding a date we both could do for the home visit. Tom
  16. I was on the same course as Str33t this weekend and it was great, a real ****ter going back to work today! Tom
  17. The Shooting shows rifle reviews by Byron Pace are excellent, much better than anything else I have seen.
  18. Give us a ballpark on the budget for rifle, scope and mounts and people can start giving useful suggestions Tom
  19. you can't silence the supersonic crack of the .17hmr with any moderator...
  20. Christchurch gun club has a 50m range. East Holme has longer ranges but is currently closed for refurbishment Tom
