Lucky Shot 1958
Hi Guys, I need to fit a bipod stud to my Daystate Huntsman, is this a DIY job or would I be better taking it to a gunsmith and what is th best make of stud to fit ? Many thanks
Theskyfox
Hi, QD studs tend to be the popular ones (You can use them for slings or bipods) and cost a horrifying......£2.95 . You can do it yourself, its reasonably straightforward but you usually have to remove the stock and be very careful to make sure you are putting the hole dead centre. If you aren't confident doing it yourself then a gunsmith shouldn't charge much to do it. Blackpool air rifles charge £15 fitting while-you-wait. -Andrew
Lucky Shot 1958
Thanks Andrew I think that I will speak to my gunsmith just to be on the safe side.
chrisjpainter
Do you have a desk drill lying around? if you do, it's not a complicated job at all. The hard part is measuring up, but it's not that big a job. I know of a gunsmith who'd charge £30, which seems a bit excessive for two small holes in a lump of wood! Take your time, practice then just get on with it
Lucky Shot 1958
Spoke to my local gunsmith who wants £30 to fit
bullet boy
I got my local Gunsmith to do mine and its a good job too!
chrisjpainter
Spoke to my local gunsmith who wants £30 to fit ...which is outrageous (and predictable!). I would do it yourself. If you were closer I'd help you out! Like I said, it's not too complicated. just take your time in measuring it up, and as has been said, take the action out of the stock, not a good idea to drill into a high pressured cylinder! evo
£30 to drill a hole into a bit of wood,,terrible, tell him you want the wood back and also the drill bit for that rip off price, do it yourself it will take you just 5 mins to do,,the one thing I would say it make sure you can fully fit the bipod onto the stock . measure the distances first and double check them , then and only then once you are sure should you drill your stock, good luck but do it yourself and save yourself £30 for some pellets atb Evo
