Afternoon out.

Had the afternoon out today hoping to get a few pigeons and have a look in a couple of woods.

Only managed five pigeons but they were hard to shoot in the wind today.

I had put the shotgun away and was riding down the side of a wood.I was just having a look to see how many squirrel dreys i could spot in the trees.

I saw movement in one tree and stopped the van and watched and saw a squirrel going higher up the tree.

 

I got the gun out again quickly and after a minute or two saw the squirrel and gave it a barrel.

One barrel was not enough as it fell it managed to grab and hold onto a branch so it got the second barrel.

Another squirrel that i had not seen then jumped across to another tree and hid behind it.

I had only loaded both barrels so had to run back to the van for some cartridges before i could dispatch the second squirrel.

I looked again up the first tree and saw an odd lump right at the very top of the tree.

Soon realised it was another squirrel and added that to the tally.

So ended up with three squirrels within a couple of minutes.

So it looks promising for squirrel bashing on Monday.
