Think the best way to guess if its winter rape is the time that its sown...

Rape thats harvested just after summer will have been sown in the spring...Stuff thats harvested before summer will have been sown at the end of the season,, September/October.

This stuff is probably what you have on your fields at the moment which will be about 6 inches tall and not flowering.

Thats how I class it................

winter oil seed rape is drilled late august /mid september harvested late july /early august

spring oil seed rape is drilled late march/early may harvested late august /late september

winter OSR will be taller and stronger than it`s spring variant but often pigeons feed on both equally

My best days have been from a spring field that was drilled late ,must have been the only field for miles

shot 350 pigeons in 3 visits ,this was 2 years ago .

Watch for clover or organic conversion grass full of clover pigeons love clover seed ,might just look like a field of grass but watch it all the same ,usually good summer shooting before the stubbles are around
