webber
Gents Many of you will have read on Pigeon Watch about the shoot day that I organised on my friends shoot in Hereford last season, a number expressed an interest in taking part if possible; to be honest I’ve forgotten who they were. Sadly a few who attended last season are not available this season. Its driven Pheasant and one duck drive. The shoot is not for the inexperienced game shooter as some of the drives are outstanding. I would like to invite Two Pigeon Watch members to shoot with me on the Shoot at Hereford this year on Saturday 22nd. November 2014. I have successfully negotiated a party rate at the B&B where several of us stayed last year. I need two brace to share two rooms, but volunteers have already been secured. As the rooms vary in size and cost I propose to draw peg numbers for rooms, as the rooms all have differing rates, but we are paying a flat rate block booking. One of the shoot beaters has a mini bus, the services of which I have secured to provide transport to and from the Inn where we shall take our evening meal on the Friday evening. The Inn is where the shoot holds its own functions and did us proud last season. As the B&B is only about 20 minutes from the estate, the pre shoot bacon butty has bit the dust, but the brew remains. Elevenses. Consisting of hot spiced pear cider and cake. Lunch in the shoot room similar to last year. Probably a venison stew with loads of trimmings and cakes, cheese board and Port. Brew and slice of cake prior to departure home. I will also try to secure one of the rather tasty large apples and a bottle of the estate apple juice to take home with the brace. The shoot were initially hesitant at fixing the rate for the days shooting due to the significant flooding and unknown cost for feed wheat moving forward. However they have now fixed their rate, it is a considerable increase on last year, but takes into account the increased cost of birds as Jason is no longer rearing, and increased costs for pellets and feed wheat: I must reserve the right to request a nominal increase should the need arise but I feel that this is now very unlikely. The shoot only sell one let day a season. It is a privilege for me to be offered the day and acknowledges the work that I have done behind the scenes for a number of years. Please imagine standing in the bottom of a valley with the River Wye on your back and birds flying over woods on the top of the valley. The resident syndicates cartridge to kill ratio is around 9:1, these men really can shoot, they just don’t hit too many. I still feel that the shoot offers good value for money given that it would not be beyond expectation to achieve a 100 bird day; please remember that there is no bag limit. So the bottom line is £310 each. This is my version of a Thomas Cook price. It includes: B&B at a quality family run establishment. Transport to and from the evening meal on the Friday evening. Evening meal at the Inn. Days shooting including Elevenses, lunch, and light refreshments prior to departure. Nominal beaters tip, although if you feel that you’ve had an exceptional day I won’t refuse a bit more. The price does not include any beverages purchased on licensed premises. You are therefore responsible for your own bar bill. Should you decide to accept the invitation, or require further information I would be obliged if you would contact me via PM to confirm availability and then forward to me a deposit of £100 by the end of March. I require the balance of £210 to be paid by the end of July. Obviously if you are feeling flush I won’t say no to it all in one lump as it makes my job a little easier. I run the let day as a not for profit exercise my business interests have no connection with this offer. RSVP webber
