ack-ack
Chuffing hell lakeside, that sucks. Brachy therapy sounds unfeasibly risky. Did they over cook the pellets? Or use too many pellets or something?
lakeside1000
They don't tell you, but I've read some people are naturally resistant to radiation where others suffer extensive damage, guess that was me, who'd have guessed .problem is its not like normal injuries where your body can renew the tissue that's damaged, with radiation the cells die at a much deeper level as with burns, the only repair possible is normally transplant, another issue is the damaged cells that survive continue to produce scar tissue which blocks tubes and interferes with normal functions within the body, you don't know its there until something stops working, then its A & E , and fingers crossed someone there knows what they are doing, I've had a few scary moments with junior doctors but I know enough now to stop them causing more problems, I just ask them to contact my consultant before proceeding, they are usually happy to ask for help. Kes
Thanks Lakeside - they say 90% of men die with prostate cancer not OF it. I sincerely wish you the very best in your undoubted recovery. I wish I had your intestinal fortitude.
fenman99
Hi Lakeside, sorry to here your surgery has not worked out. Have you looked at the Prostate Cancer UK website/forum as there are many like-minded men who have had Brachy Therapy & many share there ups & downs? I was diagnosed with PCa back in Oct 12 & opted for Robotic Prostectomy & now i am 95% back as i was. PCUK helped me with a lot of instant answers to my PCa. I wish you the very best on your ongoing recovery from this EVIL illness. fenman99 Edited March 30, 2014 by fenman99
