CharlieT
Shooting rights is obviously shooting only, whereas sporting rights encompass all other field sports such as hunting etc.
hoggysreels
And thats the legal deffinition ?
CharlieT
It depends on the specific wording of the actual document. Some rights may be worded differently because one aspect may have been retained by a previous owner. However, Shooting rights only ever contain the right to take (kill) game by shooting, whereas sporting rights permit the holder to both take (kill) game by shooting and hare, fox and deer by hunting over land. CharlieT
What about fishing?? Part of sporting rights??? I dunno, just an idea. Fishing in not normally included, it tends to a completely separate entity.
anser2
My wildfowling club has large rivers running through three of their marshes and has the fishing as well as shooting rights.
garden gun
Sporting rights is, as I understand it, a general term that covers all coutry sports. Shooting rights is just that as is riparian rights for fishing. Everyone is correct that it will all be detailed in deeds and other legal documents. Another weird one is mining rights - there was a case recently where a "lord of the manor" was seeking to sell off his mining rights which would have undermined (pardon the pun) a whle half village. In short - just because you own the land does not mean that you can shoot, fish, mine etc with impunity.
