Jon-Boy
Hi Chaps, anyone know if it is possible to lighten the trigger pull on a CZ 511 in .22lr? Its just to heavy, i find myself "pulling off" on shots! Any help would be great Cheers Jon
Graham M
Hi Chaps, anyone know if it is possible to lighten the trigger pull on a CZ 511 in .22lr? I have an old CZ semi (452 I think) and in a mad attempt to lighten the trigger I took too much off the sear. This resulted in the rifle going full auto and emptying the 8 shot mag’ into the back of the rabbit warren. The CZ I had used a funny little arrangement where the rifle was cocked by the blowback of the action slide (nothing new there) but once I had removed too much metal it meant that there was nothing to hold back the block and as the block moved forward into battery it did so with the firing pin pushed forward. This hit the rim of the next case and started the whole process of again. 8 shots in @ 2 seconds…….and I missed the bloody rabbit. G.M. The trigger on a CZ semi operates on a rotary cam, and if you grind too much off the cam it keeps on whizzing round. Empties a mag in about half a secod. Cost my local gunshop with an expert gunsmith a complete new trigger assembly Exciting at the time - the gun when burrrrrrp and that was it After it was done I got rid quick and bought an Anschutz semi with a much better trigger. mry716
Despite what has been said you can remove at least 25% of the sear protrusion and replace the spring with one at least half as strong and get the trigger down to around a crisp 3lbs and still be safe. I know as I have adjusted mine just like that. But you will need to be totally happy with your ability and if you have any doubts take it to a good gunsmith NOT a Gunshop - a gunsmith. Cost about £60.
Graham M
I'll second that. Some gunshops are as un-knowledgeable as some of their customers. And it does tick me off sometimes when I take something in to a shop (as PX or sale etc) only to be told by some spotty half-wit that the triggers are heavy or they aren’t set up properly, or the headspace seems a bit big (had this happen to me a couple of years ago. I pointed out that the rifle, a .22rf, had a HS of 44 thou’ which was pretty good for a sporter. He went into the realms of fantasy stating that it should be at least 4 thou’ smaller. It was only when I pointed out that Eley ammo had a rim that gave a HS of 41-42 thou and that some other ammo such as CCI was even thicker that he became a little sheepish and ******** off back to fiddling about with the air rifles and left me to wait for the boss. He wasn’t all that much more knowledgeable either. G.M.
