MG6065
Hi all, put a desposit down on a 05 fiesta st at the weekend. It's very smart and tidy and only done 40k miles, not bad for a 9 year old car. I've done a lot of research on the car and it's always been a dream to own one since I was a kid, just love them! So frustrating having to wait, but it shoulda be worth the wait.... Anyone on here got or had one and could shed a little light on them? More detail the better... Thanks a lot! Brad93
What do you want to know? Engine: 150PS 2.0L Duratec 16v, reliable little engine, can be modified to achieve over 300bhp with a turbo charger or 200bhp naturally aspirated. Chassis: Excellent, MacPherson Struts at the front, trailing beam at the back with independent dampers and springs. By now them dampers probably could probably do with replacing, as could a few bushes. Little bit over weight but stripping out some sound deadening and replacing seats with buckets would make it a lot more balanced. Gearbox: Okay, but known to eat gears and destroy diffs. Would benefit from a fluid change immediately, and LSD would be a lovely thing to have. Clutch is good standard and can easily take 200bhp. LowStandards
I had one and it was dire, chassis can't handle the 150bhp as standard, let alone tuning it. It was my first and last delve into a 'sporty car, that was designed as a shopping mobile', they just don't cut it, if you want a sports car, buy a sports car, not one they've put a mondeo engine in and a gearbox so bad its actually laughable... Sounds like you got a poor example tbh. It's not a clio 182/200 but for the money you can't go wrong. Got a mk5 ZS personally and that spanks Mk6's in the twistys
LowStandards
I had it from new, it was as good as its going to get Its not a sports car, its a fiesta. I drove a Clio 182 which was equally as poor You can't just harden the suspension, put some stripes on and add a saloon car engine and think its a good package
