Underdog
Wonder how the brass holds up? The remmie was quite good on brass. Every Hornet loaded hot soon finish's brass. Just sayin'.
jay222
As you can say there set for same bullet just I've set it to 4000fps nearer to .17rem and out to 300 yards its one inch drop which is nothing really.... What I've found with the ackley hornet is .2 grain powder equals approx 100 fps in speed... I think the gun has more to give as there's reports the yanks are pushing it to 4000fps but I'm happy with how it runs now. Using 20grn vmax data is that drop for the 20gr vmax then? I thought the rem could push 4200 with a 20gr
theshootist
Thanks for those charts, interesting. I think I would be shooting the 25gn in the .17 Rem as it would be more capable on the odd fox. What those tables do show is that light and very fast bullets slow down quickly! I thought the rem could push 4200 with a 20gr I've seen 4300 quoted for the 20gn which has a BC of .185 and 4000 for the 25gn with a BC of .230. Internet sourced numbers, but I'd have thought the more streamlined 25gn would be a better performer than the 20gn.
jamie g
25 vmax are better then 20 vmax. ive seen over 4100 in the 17 fireball with 20 vmax. the rem is much quicker
