Beardo
I have a mk2 in 6.5x55, absolutely love it. The mk1 is to be avoided as the stock was flimsy and caused accuracy issue as it could press against the barrel. Not sure if the action is lighter or shorter pull in .223, but it's a nice weight and balance without a mod (I have the shorter barrel mountain version). The bolt, set trigger and safety systems are a thing of beauty. As is the candy stripe barrel. It's also very resistant to the weather
Guest rimotu66
As Beardo said about the Mk1 stock, having said that I did have Prohunter 2 in .223 and the stock wasn't much better, if you do get one you can have the 'honeycomb' filled with resin to stiffen the stock up a bit but this would add to weight. Having said all of that it was a cracking rifle and I didn't miss much with it

Guest rimotu66
Just remembered I had problems with the magazine sticking, I was sent an 'improved' one but it wasn't much better.
shooterman49
I have a mk11 prohunter in .223. excellent bit of kit. light weight, very accurate, reliable, excellent trigger and safety but as above posts forend of stock a bit flexable, you wont get much better for what you require. regards pete.. al4x
Yes you will you can get a gun without a flexible stock..... I know of one that used to change impact by 2" with a bipod fitted. The importers view was they are mostly aimed at the European market who don't use bipods
