Chris Bb
So I bought a four year old Defender with a year's LR warranty on it just before Christmas. Within a week it was back at the main dealers having a couple of fairly major faults put right under warranty, I suppose they sell the car in such poor condition so that LR pay for the repairs after the sale rather than themselves before the sale, who knows. Today it went in for its 5th year service. All's OK apart from a minor oil leak from the timing chain cover. He says, "We can fix it OK for £400." I says, "Go ahead, it's under warranty." He says, "l'll have to ask LR." An hour later he says, "LR want to look at it first and they can't get here 'til Friday." I explode, telling him I need the car and is it under warranty or not? An hour later he says that the LR engineer is coming 1st thing tomorrow morning and he expects to have the repair completed by lunch-time. Oh, and please keep the courtesy car overnight. We'll see what's what tomorrow. But what's the point of paying top dollar to buy a car from a main dealership to get a warranty if the manufacturer doesn't trust a dealership to be honest about what work needs doing to one of their finest? superspark
I have had two landrovers now bought from the main dealers where I live. Biggest pile of **** ive ever had. One cost me more the £3000 to put right in just over 12 months. Their after sales service is very weak at best. Never will I spend out on such rubbish again. And they have the nerve to say their vehicles are premium quality, ha ha, who are they trying to kid.
countryman
When that warranty runs out get rid of it ASAP, you have had a taster of what's to come.
EMcC
I change mine as soon as the warranty runs out, I not only get peace of mind but I also get a better trade in price for a vehicle of that age. I am talking about the three year warranty on a new vehicle.

I don't think (hope) that this is a "bad" vehicle, I just can't live with this sort of service. Once it's out of warranty I'll be going independent. four-wheel-drive
Some places get a car/truck in and give it a good going over before selling it others just give it a wash and sell it working on the thought why repaire it if it may not go wrong if it does then they just fix it and everyone is happy to mind I would prefer to have everything sorted before I pick it up. I think you have hit the nail on the head here.... there is no point at all - IMO, you are just giving money away. We had similar experiences with the local LR dealer, and lost a chunk of money in the process.... never again. Haven't had a LR for years now...
