I just like to keep the depth of the hide shallow so as not to alter the hedge profile too much. I don't know if it does any good - just me I suppose. The short barrels permit this. Besides they're a joy to shoot. Having said that, I've only recently got the Maxus, my first self-loader, and I've pulled off some cracking shots - some positively stratospheric - while not in a hide, just stood behind the hedge, ambushing the rooks to keep them off the silage bales, so I can see me picking this up more often for the hide when the rooks are 'on the menu'. Better add that much of this success is down to the Rottweil German 6s that I've just given their first real workout and they complement the Maxus really well.
