laid barley/cut grass

I was driving back from a BBQ Sunday night about 5pm I could see a big flight line of pigeon over a farm I shoot on heading towards some laid barley ,the next thing my wife is shouting at me to stop looking at fu$$ing pigeons and keep my eye on the road .anyway all week I have been trying to finish work early to have a go Monday and Tuesday were perfect overcast and windy but home to late but Wednesday night I was home at 5pm so thrown some shells in a bag and off I go .5 mins later I am at the farm and the field next to the barley was now cut grass and full of birds I headed to the corner under a good flight line only to find all the grass pushed down were a hide had been oh well hope they had a good day .set up with a floater and 6 shell decks on the grass with the laid barley behind me birds in as soon as I sat down right and left my hopes were up whoever had been there had not shot all the birds .anyway 3 hrs later 27 birds in the bag loved it .but wish I could have made it Monday in that wind .going to try again next week I have two day off loads of laid barley full of crows pushing it down .

I wouldn't worry too much about the wind having too much of a bearing on whether a good day can be had.
