hunterdave
Hi all I'm going to start reloading .38sp can I get away with the lee 2 die kit or is it better to go for the delux 3 die kit? can anyone offer an insite into this? Cheers Dave
hunterdave
Sorry I meant 3 die set and delux 4 die set
Imperfection
Never seen a Lee 2 die set for 38sp. Just buy the normal 38sp carbide 3 die set as this will reload 38sp and 357 magnum.
phaedra1106
If you're loading on a turret press the deluxe 4 die set has the powder-through expansion die. If not then the carbide 3 die set with the factory crimp die would be my choice. Any reason for 38spl and not reduced loads in .357?, Lee do a set which will do both cases, part no. 90510 just be sure and check the setup for using 38spl as the die seating height is different to the .357. Imperfection
Sorry I meant 3 die set and delux 4 die set ah,i see now! The delux set has a specific crimping die,but the bullet seating die in the normal set crimps too and i've never had any issues with them in my lever action. Ahh I see now so the bullet seating die puts a factory crimp on as well, I'm reloading these 38 for a winchester 94 lever action, so if the 3 die set works for you I'll get that and save my self £

I have a Winchester 94ae and only ever use 357 brass as they tend to cycle these better.Starline brass is very good quality, but i tend to simply buy factory ammo, have my fun with it then save the cases for relaoding.Magtec nickel coated brass is also good for reloading. Always remember the Lee 38sp set will reload 38's and 357 magnum, but the 357 set will only reload 357.
