Rough Shooting Syndicate – South Herts – 2 Guns available, also beatin

Recommended Posts

I run a small, friendly Rough Shooting syndicate on arable farmland near St Albans, Herts, totalling nearly 300 acres, and have informal “driven” Pheasant / Partridge days on about 5 - 6 Saturday mornings from late October through to January, plus shoots on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

We currently have 6 guns but are looking to recruit a couple of new members for our season commencing 1st October.

Annual membership includes opportunities for Pigeon / Vermin shooting throughout the year.

We are looking for safe, insured, guns who ideally will have a trained gundog.

Preference will be given to those who live locally and are prepared to assist now and again in topping up feeders & controlling vermin, as we don’t employ a full time keeper in order to keep costs down

.

We would also welcome potential pickers up and beaters who are available on Saturday mornings, no payment offered, but opportunities for Pigeon / Vermin shooting will be given in return.

Please PM me if interested and tell me a bit about yourself and what experience you have on a Rough Shoot…?

Fantastic offer, I hope you get the right people.

Somehow I think you will be very busy with PM's.

Good luck

I am writing to express my interest in the beating, picking up, feeder filling and vermin control mentioned in your June 2014 post. I know the post was firstly to attract syndicate members but I am sure the other issues are likely to remain over time.

I currently help out at the Redbournbury Sporting Clays and Fisheries ground between Redbourn and St Albans (Owner John Dunckley). I have been sporting clay shooting since August last year and more recently have been shooting Skeet at Cupid Green Lane. I have a Section 2 Shotgun Licence and shoot a Browning B725 12g Sporter and a sub 12ft/lbs PCP air rifle. I am a member of BASC.

I retired after 40 years with the National Blood Service last July and now my time is mostly my own. I am married with two grown up children. I live in Hemel Hempstead and have a clean driving licence.

I note from your post that you do not employ a permanent keeper, so from that point of view I would be happy to volunteer my time to help service your shoot re: the feeder filling and vermin control, also beating and picking up during your shooting season.

If I can be of any help to you then please let me know.

Regards

Martin
