tonker
After reading the thread and seeing some pics, I decided to make some of these. Finished painting them up,and then thought about the sticks to put them on. I rumaged around the shed and found an old offcut of Harris fence panel. This is perfect for the job. Find a piece with a minimum of three of the thin upright lengths if you know what I mean, and cut this in half. that obviously leaves you with, lots at one and a half long. Then cut all the thicker cross pieces in the middle, this leaves you with a length about 14 inches long of the thinner upright lenghts with a little cross piece welded to it When you use them the cross piece acts as a stop for the corex decoy so they don't slide right down, and sets the hieght. and the wire is just thin enough to let the decoys turn with the wind. I reckon this should work a treat.( haven't used them yet so don't know) Anyway just thought I'd pass on what I have done. Good luck if you try it. they are easy to make, but you do need an angle grinder for the legs. Edited June 29, 2014 by tonker

tonker
Another tip, if you see a bloke putting up house for sale signs ask him if he has any old boards, ( they have to replace them when they get tatty) They come doubled, so draw your crow outline on them (should get 5 on a board , and then cut them out with a fine blade jigsaw) When they fall out, because the boards are doubled you then have 10 decoys. Thats what I did anyway. as I know someone who can get estate agents boards.
kiffy
never thought of getting old signs, i automatically thought of getting black correx to start with.
Mike737
I used offcuts from replacing the glass in my greenhouse with 4mm twinwall polycarb. welding wire bent into a loop with one leg much longer to push into the ground, and sprayed them black. Total cost almost nothing. Mike.
