AdamW
GM, Thanks for the info Do they all fall in to .22 range, eg, can all the .22's LR H etc be shot through a .22 rifle? (not an air rifle of course!) Adam
Peter_HMR
http://images.google.ie/imgres?imgurl=http...ficial%26sa%3DN Your looking at rimfire rounds there are four .22lr, .22wmr, .17hm2 and .17hmr http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rimfire .22lr being the most popular and widely used by target shooters and hunters .22wmr uses a .22bullet in a longer case giving more knock down power and mainly a hunting round but not as popular as it was .17hm2 hasnt caught on over here uses a .17 bullet in a necked down .22lr case giving higher velocitys and flatter tradjectory .17hmr becoming very popular over here using a .17 bullet in a necked down .22wmr casing giving again higher velocitys and very flat tradjectory There really is way to much to explain rimfirecentral is a very informitive sight it will just take a while to build up your knowelge theres alot to learn. As regards .22shorts and caps so on they are rounds that can be used in a .22lr but there are four calibres that rimfire rifles are chambered in
dunganick
http://www.accuratereloading.com/reload.html this site dosent explain rimfires, but lists pretty much every common and some less common centerfire rounds. Bare in mind it is built for a different country, so the animals next to the calibres you might struggle to find in the field but it will give you an idea what they use them for.
