joecash
When buying and selling cars - glass's guide is the bible Do we have a similar guide in the UK for shotguns? or is it suck it and see with seaweed or a wet finger in the air. The reason I ask is that many guns, offered for sale, do not seem to follow any sensible condition guide. Perhaps some people have developed their own methods or used USA methods Any suggestions would be most welcome Thanks. Cosmicblue
The best guide seems to via something like Guntrader, there is usually enough variety on there to give a possible indication of value. Wood quality, engraving and general condition along with rarity/desirability all have a bearing on value too.
HDAV
At the end of the day they are worth what someone will pay, glass's gives an indication of what people have paid in the past....
Dibs
Best way is look through Guntrader and get an idea and price sensibly. There is no point pricing say a Silver Pigeon 1 at the same price as dealers have used examples for as you will struggle unless your lucky as there is hundreds of them out there. It needs to have a price advantage or an attractive feature over the others usually to attract a buyer. If it's a bit rarer then you can command a better price if it's something people will want. supply and demand - simple as. Having sold several guns recently inc DT10, F3 Pro, Maxum, Ascent etc it's definitely price dependent on how much interest you get. For instance why buy a DT10 from me for 3k when there are loads in dealers? - from experience you have to have an edge - better chokes, wood, condition etc or price! GT will give you a good idea what the competition is and where you need to be price wise. Edited July 14, 2014 by Dibs
