The Essex Hunter
I am finding with this new block of land that I have to be a little more mobile; the farmer topped his old game cover which has opened up their hiding places…. This suits me as I walk all the time for foxes, so pitching up with my back to a hedge is right up my street. It is not practical to keep moving my high seats so plan Q (quad sticks) is put in place, They are funny to watch as they scurry along and really do not look comfortable on open ground. I was tucked into a nice hedge when a pair broke from cover heading to a spinney, just like a lot of foxes I have shot of my sticks I will lead the gun and then stop it with a shout as trying to play catch up can cause you to take your eye of the shot and any potential movement is very small. The buck came to a halt after a quick bark and fell over a split second the round left the gun, I did re load and come on to the doe but knowing the first shot was safe I chose not to take a second…. http://i856.photobucket.com/albums/ab130/TheEssexHunter/Muntjac/004_zps82f84354.jpg TEH Edited July 29, 2014 by The Essex Hunter
