Peugeot 307 Thermostat Housing

Had my car in for a service on Friday and on the way home car told me to top up engine coolant. When I got home I topped it up thinking that they had maybe drained the system and forgot to refil it. Anyway, came to drive it on Saturday afternoon and the car was telling me to top it up again. ******** I thought. Popped the bonnet and started to fill the resevoir and heard a dripping. Lifted the plastic cover off my engine and saw the coolant squirting out of a little pipe on my thermostat housing. Had a look at my neighbours 307 and his has a blue cap on it, but mine doesn't and it looks like it has been snapped off.

So a couple of questions:

How much is a thermostat housing going to cost me?

Is it possible that the garage broke it off? Is it possible to snap through normal driving?
