hey,

advice wanted

im getting rite into this moleing thing.I did a bit of moling for a farm i shoot on and you no how farmers like to chit chat. well this farmer told his farmer friends and they've rung me up asking for me to mole for them and in return i ask for shooting permission but 6-7 farmers dont want me shooting on their land because of horses etc but i respect their descision and have agreed to mole for them.

what im stuck on is how much to charge for each mole i catch, because their all saying name your price but i havnt got a clue.

given advice

ok guys n gals. if your stuck for land buy 50 or so traps(ive had to buy 500 as i have too many customers) to get your selfs started and go to a farm and ask if they want some moling done in exchange for a bit of shooting. it works every time.

i have now going on 1900 acres all together and i only had 700 the other day.

so get those traps bought now.

regards

Scott

i normally just wonder by out shooting but i normally check them every other day.some times i just zoom in on them with my spotting scope from the roadside when they are in view. its actually a piece of pis. for what i get in return. from friday i have got 250-260 rabbits from just 100 acres of this land i boned them out (oh ye im a butchers apprentice),diced and vacume packed, then into the freezer. so that now they will last years and i dont have to be in a rush to use it.

I went down this road a few yrs back with success ,but I went 1 step further and took a MAFF approved 1 day mole course, they taught u all the basics of trapping etc and then showed you how to use strychnine safely , I came away with a certificate , that proves U can handle the poison

and the cost was quite cheap at around £50.

Was nice to hand out cards to local farmers with pest control on and mole eradication  it does indeed get u permission.

I found farmers are crying out to get rid of moles just b4 the first cut of hay , the soil effects the silage , turning it sour ...or something of the sort.

But mole catching is a time consuming job for sure

I found a business type card to be an advantage detailing pest control and including mole eradication , handing these out to farmers you meet , really works

Poison??

Try using Juicy Fruit chewing gum. Moles love the smell of it and as long as you don't handle the stuff with your bare skin and leave it just outside their holes, your mole problem will vanish.

Apparently they all buy Harleys and ride off into the sunset.

Butchers dog, years ago i to used to catch moles for farmers in return for shooting permission and charged either a pint a maudy or a quid each which ever the farmer preferred. It was that long ago, a pint used to cost about a quid how much is it now ? Top idea though every farmer hates moles and if you can catch em you will be in demand.

Jams up the machinery. After you've cleaned out the spout the first half dozen times in an acre, it gets rather tiresome.
