scorpius
I have a problem with rats at a day ticket fishery, I don't own an air rifle so the only gun available to me is a 410, because they are only active at night, they are spooked by a white light would a red filter on a head lamp be more effective, I cannot justify the cost of night vision equipment, they are so quick but I don't blame them, hence the 410. The maximum range is approx. 30ft. Any advice please, P.S I have been setting a "live trap" and to date caught next doors cat twice,1 hedgehog, 2 moorhens and a coot, poison is a no no. dougall
At that range a 410 with a torch strapped to it and no9 shot will kill anything within the beam.
fella
prevention better than cure with rats, ensuring rubbish is cleared up and food tidied away that they might eat is your best bet.

Alycidon
Poison them. Get some rat bait and some empty cash bags from a bank. Fill the bags with the bait and close the tops. Ram the bags down the rat holes with a stick, repeat at 2 week intervals. That should steady them up a bit. A
