mec primer feed question

Recommended Posts

Hi all. Recently brought a steel master and I've got a question about the primer tray. I've put it all on with the wing nut and attached the chain. Filled with a pack of primers etc.

When I deprime and resize in the 1st stage it's not dropping a primer.

When the handle is pulled up and down there is no movement in the tray as in the mechanism doesn't select a primer.

Am I doing something wrong?

Cheers

If memory serves? You may need to manually place the first primer in the re primer station from then on when a loaded case is at the final closure station on the press and you pull the lever down to finish the cartridge, it drops the primer ready to prime the next case....and so on and so on.....assuming you have set the chain as described in the handbook.

Hope this helps?

that's how my sizemaster in 28g works also. The chain is a bit of jiggery pokery to get the right length but it does work when you get it set right

the primer system drops a primer after the case is finally crimped.

the final crimp is the mechanism that trips the doodah to pull the chains to drop a primer.

i`ve a sizemaster (same Machine in red) i disabled this because i wanted to, and i use new primed cases !
