shoot and be safe
I was talking with one of the chaps off our shoot last night and the subject of a "away day" came up for the back end of the season. After some discussion we came up with the thought of a day in Ireland. Any advice on shooting estates and the legal requirements (permits etc.) would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance Sabs. ordnance
Any advice on shooting estates and the legal requirements (permits etc.) would be much appreciated. North or south the requirements would be different. Whilst Northern Ireland, The Isle of Man and the Channel Islands are UK sovereign territory, visitors permits for Great Britain are not valid in those parts of the UK. Additional permissions are needed from the police authorities in those places. Anyone who wishes to take their firearms to Northern Ireland should be aware that a valid certficate of approval, from the Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), is also required. Air weapons are also required to be licensed in Northern Ireland and the same approval from PSNI is necessary. Advice on obtaining the approval can be found on the PSNI website. Form 30-38 should be used by non GB residents and must be accompanied by either the original EFP or a complete copy. Form 30-15 should be used by GB residents. shoot and be safe
Thanks for that We were thinking more southern Ireland and making a long weekend of it. How would we stand if we went "sight seeing" for a few days with the guns in the vehicle or could one of the other "guns" bring them back to the UK ? Sorry if the questions sound stupid or there is a obvious answer
ordnance
How would we stand if we went "sight seeing" for a few days with the guns in the vehicle or could one of the other "guns" bring them back to the UK. I think you would be arrested for having firearms illegal in the country. I am sure there are organised shoots that people can take part in. Someone from the BASC will be able to advice you. Try this link. Shooting - Hidden Ireland www.hiddenireland.com/shooting Bringing your Gun to IrelandAll overseas visitors must have an Irish Fire Arms Certificate which will specify the gun(s) they are to use. Your hosts will provide the necessary application forms or these can be downloaded from the Garda (Irish Police) website, www.garda.ie You will need to complete the application form, making sure it is duly signed and witnessed, and return it to them complete with the original of your EU firearms pass (assuming you are an EU citizen), a copy of the gun licence issued to you by your country of residence, and the appropriate fee. Processing then takes at least six weeks so it is essential that this is all done in good time. Remember some airlines, particularly Ryan Air, no longer permit firearms on their planes so UK visitors may find it simpler to travel by car. This allows you to bring your dogs, if you wish to do so. Pastiebap
To legally take your firearms to ROI you need a Euro pass and an "out of state" firearms certificate from the Garda. If travelling via NI you also need an NI visitors permit.
