Scotty carptart
Is it possible to change my savage 93R laminate thumbhole stock to a standard black composite stock ? If so can anyone suggest a website and also how difficult would it be to swap barrel and trigger assembly over. cheers
A1Decoy
I would also be interested to know! Also, are you thinking of selling the laminate thumbhole stock once you swap over? Thanks

casts_by_fly
They are easy to swap. There are 2 action screws on the bottom of the stock. Once you pull those, the whole barrel action (with trigger group) comes out as once piece. Reverse for install. The only thing you'll need to check is that your bottom metal is the same as the synthetic is inlet for. I don't see any reason why Savage would have switched (makes sense to keep the same for cost reasons too) but it bears checking before you buy a synthetic stock. thanks, rick
deershooter
The bottom metal on a savage BTVSS is aluminum on the black laminated stock its plastic Deershooter

Also do you treat your laminate thumbhole stock in anyway , i.e oil . Ive tended to leave mine dry but was wondering if they can be oiled
