felly100
I need some more advice from the PW fishers please. Has anybody got or used a vacuum or magnetic car rack. It seems like a great idea having the rod set up and driving down to the river(20 mins away) Rods would be 8ft4# and a 12 ft trotting rod in winter. Cheers chaps. John. hambone
I have one and they are good, need to be aware of low trees / bushes catching the droppers though. mine is a vacuum type and the tree problem is reduced by putting both holders on the roof as opposed to one on the bonnet and one on the roof as I have seen done Edited December 14, 2014 by hambone

hambone
It's a vac:rac, I won it In a fishing comp. years ago. I think they were made in North Wales and they fit by simply moistening the rubber base and pulling down a lever. Only used it on short journeys and have had no issues with it coming loose. billytheghillie
I use the magnetic ones for 15ft salmon rods and have had no probs with them. just be careful what vehicle you put them on as range rovers and landies etc are aluminium. BIG 5
They are a great idea and very useful. Not cheap mind. Just remember to take them off when you leave your car as they are prone to be pinched,
