theshootist
I'd go with the 20, it might not be as quiet but it will be able to do more than the .410.
Mossyoak77
True heard with 3" factory .410's your range is about 25yds , Going to have a look at 20g havent they got more variety in the loads for 20g compared to the .
theshootist
In 20 bore you can buy shells right from 21 gram (only 3g more than the heaviest .410) up to monster 34 gram shells equivalent to a heavy 12 bore load.
Mossyoak77
thats quite the variety compared to the .410, I am thinking when I am next in the RFD comparing the single shot baikal vs mossberg 500 hushpower in 20g does anyone on here own the 500 in hushpower I have owned in the past a 500 in 12g liked the controls tang safety etc
PaulN
Hi - and a Happy New Year. I've got a Hushpower Mossberg 500 in 20g - superb all round reliable gun and you can use a wide variety of cheap ammunition. It sounds reasonably loud when fired but friends quite close to me say that they haven't heard me out shooting so it must be reasonably effective. For roost shooting it doesn't scare the pigeons away so does exactly what I need it to. I also picked up a spare standard barrel which is really useful for general shooting when you don't need the moderator.

Think you'll agree that it's more than capable of doing what you're going to ask of it
