Suffolkngood
Lee As mentioned previously, I only shot 3 cartridges through mine before I sold it but know someone else that has only ever used 28grams 6 through his without too much bother. Guest cookoff013
Benelli advised 32g loads. But I cleaned and oiled my new auto. Cycled 24s off the bat. Then did 100 x 32g sipe.
12boreblue
Go to clay ground and run 100: 28's through it, that will break it in!
Hamster
Could someone explain why a heavy load will break the gun in ? If you intended to use the gun with 32g loads would you have to chuck some 42's through it ?

If you intended to use the gun with 32g loads would you have to chuck some 42's through it ? Its to cycle the action with authority with either the supposed higher volume of gas at the #gas ports or recoil. Big loads need lots of gas to get them going. Most economic clay loads are 15grains powder. Whereas most recipes for 42g loads are 25-30grains. When 30 grains of powder burns it produces 30grains of gas.Autos do have a break in period. Where running parts get run in, or the gas pistons / seal need to be used fully to ensure the active components can cycle fully / travel etc.

Can you not sit down and hand cycle it with a bit of attitude ?
Underdog
So why don't we red line a new car or bike engine out the show room doors? U
Guest cookoff013
Hand cycling is not giving the action a workout. Its just the return spring. @UD So, you are saying a gun capable if 3.5" shouldn't fire 3.5" until firing x shells? I think we should stop comparing semiautomatic shotguns to motor cars or toast. 28gram carts can recoil more than 32g loads. I've done it. You can even have 21g loads recoil more than a 32g load! So maybe it can also be broke in with fast 28g loads.
