RossEM
Saw an interesting post tonight on one of the shooting groups on Facebook, which offers membership of a large shooting group. How it works is that you pay £250/£500 for 6 months/1 year to shoot over 39,000 acres in Yorkshire, vermin & wildfowl in season but very limited pheasant or grouse, deer stalking, clayshooting, fullbore and rimfire target shooting and firearm/shotgun tuition. It got me thinking, because as far as I know there's nothing like this in the south. I wonder if some of the estates that no longer run shoots (Waddesdon, for example) might do this in the future. I'm assuming group numbers are unlimited, so this system has the potential to be more lucrative than a driven syndicate. Certainly a different way of doing things, and I wonder if it'll catch on elsewhere?

RossEM
It was posted on fb anonymously but I've done a bit of digging, and yes. Seems it's a controversial syndicate. The idea's good though.
Lloyd90
Heard of similar things in the past. Who decides who can go on which days ? Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. Also with the odd greedy folk chucked in claiming however many thousand acres how long before someone is sent to land that's expired / not got permission As for paying a farmer to shoot their pests, not for me! It's a mutual benefit situation and I can't afford and wouldn't like to pay for it if I could
RossEM
Agreed, I don't pay for vermin and never will, however if it was a roughshoot + wildfowl + pigeons + lamping with a well organised booking system, there's no reason it couldn't work and be good value. I think membership numbers would have to be limited though. Also I reckon the stalking would be difficult to factor in. I think the areas various groups or individuals visit on their days would have to be organised by a secretary. If we're talking in terms of an estate, the acreage should be sufficient.
