will2490
Firstly, please excuse my ignorance as this is probably a basic question. I was thinking of buying a .410 when a friend suggested buying 12G to .410 adapters for the shotgun I have already. Again please excuse the ignorance but if I bought an adapter, would it need to go down on my cert? In the same way my moderator for my .22LR needs to be?. If not would I not then be buying ammunition for a calibre which is not on my cert? If that makes sense at all. Any clarification much appreciated! humperdingle
A SGC allows you to buy ammo in any shotgun cart type... apart from anything classed as section 1 (slug etc) Opinions will vary, but many people own adaptors, and I have had a couple. If you're concerned, phone your FLO.
will2490
Should have mentioned I have FAC. An FAC covers everything here in NI. Just thought there may be an issue with ammunition saying as I wouldnt technically have a .410 on my cert. Anyway. You say youve owned adapters, are they worth it? Or would buying a 410 be the better option?
oliver90owner
Pattern and velocity come to mind. Don't think I would be using one to replace a four ten at any seroius range..... Leaded barrels, incomplete powder combustion, to list a couple of other pains.
aris
I have a 12-28 adapter - they work fine.

Many of the adaptors will need to be extracted after each shot to get the empty shell out. 2. If your gun has extractors, you might want to switch them off if you have that option, otherwise the added weight might cause problems, and you don't want adaptors pinging all over the place. 3. I patterned a 12 bore / .410. It was ok within 15 yards, but nowhere near a fully choked .410 standalone gun.
Andy H
It does not need to go on any certificate if it is smoothbore ,If it had any rifling in it at all for a solid projecile then it would have to go on an FAC .
