Mungler
Okay, so my BASC bog reading material has turned up and I see that this issue is dedicated to their charity auctions. I quite like these charity auctions because it means spending money on something off the beaten track which will be self indulgent but "it's for charity mate" (said in a Smashy and Nicey fashion). There's a couple of things I fancy doing - wild boar shooting, a driven shoot in a far part of the country, maybe a bit of stalking and maybe a bit of fishing. Fishing I can give or take, and I haven't been in years - it has to be a fair weather day out and peaceful - I couldn't give a monkeys if I catch anything and I couldn't identify any fish that wasn't covered in batter or breadcrumbs. I have however recently seen the WTT auctions on eBay (ta very muchly Whitebridges for the link) and their layout and organisation puts the BASC to shame. Whoever is in charge of marketing or fund raising or the auctions at the BASC wants sacking. The BASC are operating postal sealed bid auctions and it's poorly laid out in the mag, you can't search the auctions (like you can on ebay by entering search words etc) and there is nothing in real time (and there is no transparency to what's going on). And as for payment by cheque - I have no idea where my cheque book is. I really do think the BASC are missing a trick.
Dunkield
If you think they are missing a trick, just make the suggestion to them. I told BASC their Bisley booking form on their site is no use to anyone in PDF format and that word doc would be more useful, as it could be completed on a pc and then emailed back. Now there is a word version of the booking form - job done. I didn't get a name check from them for that, so I am giving myself one now! Suffolk shooter
Next year there will be the opportunity to bid for a days shooting on the new Syndicate. I am meeting The BASC Eastern Rep on Thursday 22nd to walk him round and gain his advice on the current state of our shoot and what we can do to improve it. Part of the deal was that we offered a day for the sealed bid auction for next year. So when it's on I expect alot of bids on that one (NOT) SS

I was hoping for one or two freebies Mungler, Have you seen the Maroochi ad in the magazine? The X3 looks rather tasty, perhaps next time you are handing your wages over in Essex Gun you could see if they have one. Sorry about the derailment
Mungler
Okay the WTT auctions have just gone potty in the last 20 minutes and the deer stalking day and partridge shooting have bust out of budget. Does anyone know of any organisations / estates that run cottagey type shooting breaks - the idea is for a long weekend for 2 or 3 couples - Blokes go out rough shooting on the Saturday and the rest of the weekend spent boozing and cooking and walking. Anyone got any ideas?

Anyone got any ideas? Look at the back of the shooting times/Sporting Gun/Sporting Shooter. The SS especially has the available shoots in certain regions. Worth phoning them to see. I looked at one or two in Devon area as well as scotland. MC, I believe you had one or two or three freebies last year , but I'll see what I can do. I have agreed beaters day with the estate already. Simonp, They may yet be a chance for you, i'll know after tomorrow's meeting and a PM I hope to be answered tonight As MC said, Sorry for the derailment SS
