Scope advice

Thank you lads, it's been that long since I looked into buying a scope I forgot what EV and AO stand for?

Hawkes "Panorama" scope is called such as it has a much wider field of view than normal. It what they call "EV" for extreme view. The "Airmax" is now built the same too. The AO stands for adjustable objective. Adjustment of the front lens to remove parallax error. :good:

Also agree with Evo, cracking scope, clear optics, fine milldot reticle and with the wide field of view, makes target acquisition very fast :good: Would be a very good lamping scope IMHO :good:

I have two Hawke Panorama EV AO 4-12x50 on top of a BSA R10 MK2 and a CZ 455 .22LR and personally, I think they are absolutely rubbish if I'm honest! They shift POI when changing magnification and are never very clear regardless of the AO setting. They are on my list to replace (sooner rather than later)! Could be my eyes, but I have had others say the same thing looking through them!

i do love low mag scopes on airguns, i`ve used high mag 24x but do tend to use the lower magnification settings.

you could always go to a shooting show and try the whole range.

I would certainly have to disagree ,, I don't know anyone except for yourself who thinks the panorama EV scopes are what you say they are,, so I would certainly agree with your comment "could be my eyes "

I have 2 of them but in 3x9x50 and I personally think for the money they are a superb scope, don't have any problems with mine and my buddy love his on his hmr

so all I can say is " specsavers" springs to mind :lol:

Quite probably evo! I just can't handle them - they do my swede in! For an extra £100, the mtc beats them hands down. But then, you get what you pay for I suppose - I'm probably being over critical of them but I wouldn't recommend them personally. I have a z6i on my tikka which probably some of the problem. Looking through anything else is always a disappointment!

I definitely agree mate. But I have other cheaper scopes like a simmons wtc and I really don't think it compares in clarity. I'm only commenting on my experience of the AO version of the panorama mind - that may be the issue here. I haven't tried a non AO version which may be better, but for clarity, I'll stick with an mtc at the lower budget end of the scope range and wouldn't buy another hawke now.

Different strokes for different folks and all that!!
