spandit
This morning, between about 7:30 and 8:00 there was a barn owl perched on a fence post over the road. When I got back from school drop off, at about 9:45, there was a fox in the field. Aren't these things supposed to be nocturnal (or at least crepuscular)? No squirrels about, which is a shame as although I'd like them to be eradicated, I'd like to play a part in that (and use my new 410s that arrived this morning... )
anser2
Its not unusal to see barn owls and foxes in daylight. barn owls usualy hunt at night , but if the weather has been bad the night before they cand hunt so carry on the next day. Plus if they have young they need the extra food for their young so hunt in daylight.
955i
Time of year, food is thin on the ground so they have to go the extra mile to get by. It was tragic the amount of dead barn owls we got when I worked for the Barn Owl Trust that had just died of starvation over the cold months . Even the roadkills were 90% starving owls trying to cross busy roads in the hopes of finding more food further from home.
