Dunkield
Having shot a roe yesterday afternoon I decided to do some maintenance work this afternoon, modifying a high seat and looking at what will be required to move a big from a 'cold' spot to a 'hot' one. So armed just with bino's and some tools I made my way over to the seat that has never produced anything, you can already guess the punchline.. As I got closer I effectively had to shoo 4 roe away that were quite happily sunning themselves right underneath it Lousy mobile photo but you get the idea, I got to about 70 yards before they up'd and left. I did what I needed to do there an walked away wondering if moving the seat is such a good idea after all, then made my way over to another seat which is right in the middle of muntjac central. You could say there is a bit of traffic round here
Redgum
Its a funny old world Dunkield for sure, I had some time Saturday to spend in a highseat but was informed by the landowner that the Basset hounds had been through the day before so didn't expect much, I packed up at 8.30 as I didn't want to carry to much. Scully
I was up rough shoot with shotgun and dog Friday morning and spooked a roe buck with two does in a well covered banking we use to drive pheasants from, so yesterday morning went equipped with right gear. Gave the banking a good wide berth as I walked the river banking a good 80 yds from the bottom of the banking. made all sorts of obligatory squeaks and what have you, thinking I may get a head up in response or a fox if nothing else, but nothing. Walked the 300 yards of the field to the far end before it gives way to our wood, and was just about to start the ascent into the wood when I heard something behind me. On turning I spotted the buck and both does high up looking down on me from the wood on the other side of the river, which isn't our land. Outflanked! Had to smile.
