fortune
Does anyone use a barrel with a 1 in7 twist if so, how do you get on with a twist as high as this when using varmint bullets? My 223 has a 1 in 12 twist and I know that if heavy and or long bullets are used then a higher twist rate keeps them more stabilised especially at long range but does this cause a problem with lightweight varmint bullets disintegrating on exiting the barrel due to the high rate of twist? Albert 888
I tried some home load 40g balistic tip (orange) in my 1/9"twist at 100m and they grouped very well, as in sub 1/2". Think they where nozle, will check tomorrow.
Underdog
Some bullets are limited and the manufacturer usually warns us if it is necessary. The old Speer TNT was restricted in velocity, the reason being the RPM rises proportional to velocity. 1/12" x 1000fps=1000RPSx 60=60,000RPM At 3000fps that rises to 180,000RPM! fortune
Thanks for that info. How fast were they being pushed? do you know what the loading data is for these particular rounds?
Albert 888
Data from my book says around 3500fps estimated with the 40g nozler BT with 27.5g of blc2,thats what i loaded. I'm rough guessing the velocity. 223 colt ar 15a2 hbar 20" barrel 1/7"twist accuracy load with 40g blitz king using h332 25.3g is 3200 velocity from my book.
