Cranfield
In my experience its only birds of prey that will attack/eat the bird where it sits, all the mammal carnivores seem to want to take it away with them. My money is on a bird of prey.
Suffolkngood
My experience with raptors is that the usually strip out the breast first. If near to farm buildings then possibly a cat? Edited April 12, 2015 by Suffolkngood
Andy72
Again if near farm buildings, it could be rats. I've seen lots of pigeons with heads missing whilst working in tank rooms on the top of blocks of flats where the buildings had also had rat problems. Andy.
