Ira
My previous best from last year was 24 over clover, Today with a bit of luck I picked up 46 and one crow, shooting over drilled beans. I followed much advice from you fellas, used the whirlie for the first time it worked a treat, used dead birds out the freezer for deeks plus a few shells which I took in as I shot. A tip I would give, a year or so ago I took my son out and on collecting a few birds he mixed the old frozen ones with the fresh ones, my fault for not telling him, so now I cut the feet of the frozen deeks so I know which ones to breast and which not to..... well it makes sense to me. My lab is 2 now and she is working a treat, steady to the gun she holds back and waits for the command, takes direction out in the field for retrieving. I am am a very happy chappy tonight. and a freezer topped up!!!!!
Passionforangling
Sounds like everything went right today. Good idea about cutting off the feet of the birds no good for cooking, saves a bit of time when collecting up at the end of the session. Congrats also on what sounds like a well behaved dog. You will find any fresh birds you have shot will be quite stiff at the end of the day , ones from the freezer will not be as the freezing takes them past the rigamortis stage. Well done on your new PB Edited April 15, 2015 by fenboy
